Lay Witnesses for Christ: Faithful to the Mission . . . Focused on the Future

Since the close of the Second Vatican Council, Catholics United for the Faith (CUF) has distinguished itself as an international lay apostolate committed to “support, defend, and advance the efforts of the teaching Church.”

Founded during the social upheaval of the 1960s and in the immediate aftermath of Pope Paul VI’s prophetic encyclical Humanae Vitae (1968), CUF has a remarkable track record of fidelity to the Holy See, often amidst severe trials and difficulties.

Now at this pivotal moment in the Church’s history, during this season of grace following the death of Pope John Paul II and election of Pope Benedict XVI, CUF is boldly “putting out into the deep” in embarking upon a $1.25 million capital campaign in order to respond faithfully and proactively to the immense challenge of the new evangelization.

Designated campaign funds will be used to finance and remodel a closed parish church and rectory located on a 15-acre tract. Any remaining campaign funds will go toward CUF’s endowment to help provide for the long-term needs of CUF members and chapters for decades to come.

This campaign, the fruit of prayer, careful planning, and sound stewardship of CUF’s resources, will enable CUF to make a real difference for Christ and His Church in the new millennium.

Located within the Pope John Paul II Center for Lay Formation, the chapel will be used for daily prayers, w eekly Rosaries, and regular Masses offered for our members, benefactors, and the needs of the universal Church.

The Emmaus Road Distribution Center
This new building will be approximately 10,000 sq. ft. and will contain the shipping and receiving offices of Emmaus Road Publishing, as well as ample storage for our ever-growing inventory of great Catholic books and other resource materials.

A Message from Archbishop Raymond L. Burke

Catholics United for the Faith’s efforts and prayers have resulted in dramatic growth in recent years. This growth has necessitated additional office space, equipment, and resources to continue the vital apostolate of the Catholics United for the Faith. Therefore, I am pleased to serve as the honorary chairman of Catholics United for the Faith’s capital campaign to help meet the continuing, long-term needs of Catholics United for the Faith. . .

I ask that you prayerfully reflect upon the needs of the apostolate of Catholics United for the Faith and, then, make a generous gift. Supporting Catholics United for the Faith is a sound investment in the Kingdom of God, one that will support the Catholic formation of adults and children alike and, therefore, produce the greatest dividends, now and for generations to come.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

(Most Rev.) Raymond L. Burke
Archbishop of Saint Louis

Divine Mercy ($50,000 and above)
Our merciful Lord Jesus Christ is the Church’s
first Teacher.

Immaculate Heart of Mary ($25,000 to $49,999)
CUF has always been devoted to the Blessed Virgin
Mary, Mother of the Church. Further, in October
1981, CUF was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of
Jesus and the Immaculate of Heart of Mary.

St. Joseph ($10,000 to $24,999)
Invoked as the Patron of the Universal Church, St.
Joseph is a powerful intercessor in an age when the
Church and the family are assailed on every side.

Sts. Peter and Paul ($5,000 to $9,999)
The “twin pillars of the Church.” St. Peter keeps us
steadfast in our support of his successor and Christ’s
Vicar, the Pope, while the Apostle to the Gentiles, St. Paul,
encourages us to proclaim the faith in every season.

St. Thomas More ($2,500 to $4,999)
A courageous and eloquent defender of the papacy and
a devoted husband and father. As Pope John Paul II
summarized, “Thomas More was a model layman
living the Gospel to the full,” and he remains a
quintessential role model for a lay apostolate.

North American Martyrs ($1,000 to $2,499)
These men are fitting patrons for this project. Just as
the North American Martyrs’ blood became the seed of
the Church here in America, so too have the sacrifices
of CUF members of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s
prepared for this budding new springtime for CUF
and for the Church.

Communion of Saints ($300 to $999)
All campaign supporters play an essential role in the
ongoing life of CUF.
Those who give at this level or more
will become "lifetime members” of CUF.

Your gift may be made as a pledge payable over the course of
one to three years.

All gifts, small or great, are fully tax-deductible.

From Our Founder

It’s strange how God works. We were just talking about which bills to defer paying when a gift arrived and almost completely solved the problem. And that’s the way it goes. There’s always a problem; and there has always been a solution. One is tempted to think in anguish, “If only we could find about a thousand others as generous as this man . . .” but God has other plans, as He always had ever since He showered on the Israelites in the desert just enough manna for each day. That way we have to go on putting our trust in Him. The other way, we’d probably forget to do just that!
